Sonneburg's

You'll find this landmark market beneath the big red awning that fronts East Sprague Avenue just across Helena Street from the Liberty Park Post Office.

It's a neighborhood market with a major league butcher shop, a stunning spread of glistening chops, steaks, sausage, chicken and mounds of freshly ground meat.

There's been a grocery and butcher shop on this corner since the 1890's but Clyde Sonneburg has taken it to a whole new level, adding a deli and catering service. His passion for the trade comes from growing up in Moses Lake and Ephrata, the son of grocers who owned seven stores in the Columbia basin. Clyde worked at Albertson's for a decade before buying the east Spokane store in 1984.

Sonnenberg's offers the best products they can buy at prices lower than any of the chain stores, and that seems to entice people to come in and shop. But, without a doubt, the central attraction is the meat counter and the spirit of customer service that Clyde instills.
