Fitness, Sporting Goods & Outdoor Gear
Mountain Gear
Knowing Spokane was the place he wanted to stay for a long time, Paul Fish open Mountain Gear in 1983 after moving from the west side of the state. Mountain Gear was able to expand in the early 90's to incorporate mail-order services, as well as a new Division Street retail store. The new store is a Green-built building.
Everybody on the Mountain Gear team is a part of the outdoor culture, and they all love to play in the outdoors. Fish clearly loves the community that has supported Mountain Gear and gives back to the community in many ways. Besides providing equipment to local school outdoor groups, Mountain Gear is a very active partner in many organizations.

White Elephant
This is a family run business of three generations, and is a wonderful place to find special gear. White Elephant features a full line of sporting goods, outdoor cookware and "toys for girls and boys of all ages."
White Elephant began when one young man (Pat and Rick's Dad) returned from war and married his sweetheart. Mr. Conley bought war surplus and set up the store on Division Street. When he and his wife had enlarged their family (9 in total), he decided to include toys and that's the way it's been ever since. Division Street wouldn't be the same without the big white elephant that greets so many commuters each morning.
The store is full of happy memories, and expressed with fourth generation customers now using the store.
A second store was opened on East Sprague where you can find Rick Conley doing the same work he did after school so many years ago at the Division Street store.
Visit either store and find the delight that has made this family business so successful.
