Your membership supports Alliance programs that: help you and your neighborhood to: Focus attention on neighborhood issues Facilitate dialogue between neighbors and neighborhoods Influence government decisions Develop sub area plans Promote continuous citizen involvement Creatively address growth issues Advocate for high quality of life The Alliance Gets Results. Since the Alliance formed, local citizens have used it to address challenges facing Spokane communities, such as an inappropriate zone change for Wal-Mart, an unnecessary highway expansion through neighborhoods, and inadequate public input for the County's Comprehensive Plan. Alliance support for individual neighborhood issues produces increased turnout and testimony at public hearings. The GMA planning process proved fertile ground for many Alliance members who contributed hundreds of hours toward the development of the City and County Comprehensive Land Use Plans. These efforts resulted in policies that will empower neighborhoods to develop their neighborhood plans. Growing a strong and healthy Alliance requires a solid base of support in order to produce consistently good results.
